12 Tips to save battery power of your smartphone & to increase battery life

Last updated on August 7, 2020 By Tom Wallis

The battery life of a Smartphone is one of the most important aspects of it. The user always thinks about how to save battery power of the phone There is a list of small solutions on saving battery power. These small solutions will make a big impact. As  all of u know-“Each drop of water creates a lake.”

Tips to save battery power of your Smartphone

1. Avoid using the phone while charging

Using the mobiles phones while charging exhausts cell phone charge cycles and shortens battery life, It should be avoided whenever possible. A battery has only limited number of charge cycles after which the battery must be replaced. Manufacturers keep charging wires short in the length.

2. Keep vibrations off when it is unnecessary

That vibration you feel when your phone is in your pocket after receiving call or message, that vibration when the vibration motor jolts your mobile phone from inside. It consumes much power. So keeping vibration off will definitely help you to save battery power of your phone.

3. Don’t Use Auto-Brightness

The AMOLED screens in your smartphone are the biggest battery drainers. If you kept your smartphones brightness at the lower level or adjusted it as per your requirement. It will conserve much of your battery power.

4. Paint it Dark

Again it’s your smartphone screen which is the biggest battery drainer as you read earlier in 3rd point. Another solution to tackle this problem is “Paint it Dark”. Which means use a dark color wallpaper. Using All black wallpaper is a better option. Paint it black and make your smartphone green. This method will save little of your phone’s battery power.

5. Clear those unused apps from time to time

Even if you’re not using any app, it can run in the background and eat battery power from your smartphone. Android devices are meant for multitasking. Unknowingly your device keeps processing and runs some apps on your phone. Which in effect you phone uses some extra battery for those unessential process. Close them quickly , go to -> Setting -> Applications -> select either “Manage Applications” or “Running” option.

6. Set your phone to auto-lock

There is no need to explain that how to make a setting of auto lock on your phone. Auto Lock system locks screen itself. Don’t let your screen work unnecessarily. Look for an option called ‘screen timeout’ on Android devices and ‘Auto-lock’ on iPhones.

7. Clear Background Processes Which Are Not Required

You can stop those processes and apps which you don’t want to run in the background. You can access it in the Settings. This will help to save battery power of your Smartphone.

8. Keep it away from sunlight

Lithium-ion phone batteries work best when kept at slightly below room temperature. Make sure your phone isn’t heating up by keeping it out of direct sunlight or anywhere that’s excessively warm – like in your car on a hot Summer’s day

9. Minimize the notifications

We constantly get updates and notifications from the installed apps and get Emails. But we don’t care about all those notifications. We just want to be notified on the important stuff like new text messages, or Whatsapp messages. Keeping Notifications off for non-essential apps will save little battery for your smartphone apps.

10. Charge the battery in a precise manner

I think you must have read these words somewhere or you are aware of these terms which it belongs to. As you know “Lithium-ion (Li-Ion)”, and Nickel-based – “Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH)” and “Nickel-Cadmium (NiCd)”.

The Battery capacity in NiCd batteries is reduced every time you recharge them. Nonetheless, NiCd batteries have longer life cycles i.e. they can be recharged more often than NiMH batteries before stop working. Nickel-based batteries should be charged (to the full amount) when they’re more or less out of power, and not when there’s still a good amount of energy left.

11. Check The Signal Strength While Calling

Bad signal strength prompts your mobile to use extra power to search for signals. So, it’s better to make calls only when your phone will have enough signal strength. And it is good to keep the phone into airplane mode when you do not need to make calls.

12. Use Battery saving apps like Greenify

Apps like Greenify, Clean Master & Battery Doctor for Android and Battery Saver for iOS help to save battery power. Greenify is an auto hibernating battery saver. Greenify will automatically hibernate apps you’re not using to ensure they’re not misbehaving in the background. Greenify has the ability to add a “hibernate all” shortcut to your home screen. That way, when you’re sticking your phone back in your pocket, you can just tap the hibernate shortcut and Greenify will manually hibernate all your chosen apps so they don’t run in the background. This is one of the best apps that will help to save battery power of your phone
