Windows in iWatch
This is what happens when mobile technologists go crazy. If you are one, you’d at least adore the idea. It is not usual that you see people wanting take up to such tasks. But this mobile technologist Nick lee fit Windows 95 to run on Apple watch! Seems impractical but adorable!
The origin of idea!
The major inspiration came from his love for computers from the nineties. He says that his first computer was a good old $3000 screamer with a 300 MHz Pentium II, 256 MB of RAM. That was the computer that made him fall in love! (No doubt why he is so smart!).
He was confident about taking up such a task because his apple watch had a lofty 520 MHz processor, 512 MB of RAM, and 8 GB of internal storage. That was far more powerful and advanced than his first computer. He appreciates Apple’s innovation by which computers of high performance and small form factors were born. In Apple people somehow manage to fit the heart of an elephant in a mouse and call it innovation!
It takes 1 hour to boot up! But if you can take it, you can enjoy the retro feel of using an old OS. He had also had some difficulties in the process. The SDK on apple watch had to be tweaked a lot for such a task. The watch has the tendency to sleep frequently which proved a challenge, but he fit a small motor to the scroll on the watch which constantly turns it, just to prevent it from going asleep.
Now that this became possible, people are dying to run old games on modern devices.
Nick says that it wasn’t his first attempt on the idea; he had also run Mac OS 7.5.5 on an Apple watch. Even you can try to do the same by finding codes at GitHub he says
What I Feel
Not something I would enjoy doing, but I admit that it certainly is a head turner. This is something what i say is OUT OF THE BOX. The fact that it takes an hour to boot makes me think about it twice. But I believe it can be overcome by using faster processors and a few enhancements. By far and away this is a crazy idea; I can’t wait to see its ramifications on the tech community now! The above video is from Nick himself.
